Artist statement
The reflective nature of light mesmerizes me, it pulls me in and my heart and brain conspire hoping to hold and preserve the beauty of a passing moment. This feeling within me fuels the driving force to create.
My artwork draws upon naturally occurring textures, light reflection and color. I primarily work in different forms of printmaking such as relief, collagraph, monoprint and mixed media. Several of my prints incorporate the texture of wood grain.
In the fall of 2021 I began working with art printmaking under the instruction of Doug Billings. Spending many hours on most Saturdays in the Printmaking studio creating has added a wonderful balance to my life.
I am a member of the Tall Grass Prairie Press Print Makers. I also enjoy other art mediums including water color, drawing and stained glass. At a young age my mom, Jan Horst, helped foster in me a love of art. For that I am forever grateful.
