Artist's Statement

As far back as I can remember I have always been creating. It may have been a coloring book, a sketch pad, sculpting mud outside, painting, arranging a room, hanging or displaying art. For me it is an essential part of my life. I guess I crave the wonderful forward motion that creating brings. I treasure the time it keeps, the moments, the memories, and the joy it brings to people all around; art is everywhere.

I studied art all through school, including Cowley County Community College and then Pre-Art Therapy at Kansas State University. I began my career in art in 2000 as an art consultant in Seattle, Washington. This is where it all began. I fell in love with not only creating art but the business of art. I have spent the last 15 years working in the business as a consultant, assistant director, director, and gallery owner. I thank Beth Ward and Kenneth Behm for being my instructors and mentors; they unlocked the art world for me and I am so grateful.

I currently live in a small Kansas town with my husband and our two beautiful boys. I create when time allows. I still continue to vary in my choice of mediums although I have a greater focus for mosaic work. I am inspired by Gustav Klimt, Alvar, and Tina Murano.
