DESCRIPTION:Join artist Barb Mizik for this exciting Encaustic Workshop. Saturday\, October 18\, 9 AM-4 PM. Bring a lunch or enjoy something from a downtown restaurant. \nWe will learn about: \n– Priming your surface \n– Fusing between layers \n– Various ways to apply encaustic medium \n– Adding marks with pastels\, wax crayons\, \nalcohol inks and more \n– Building up layers and scraping your surface \n– Carving/Incising into the wax and \nfilling it with medium or oil stick \n– Using stencils with encaustic medium. \nStencils will be provided \n– Making transfers with prints or magazines. \nSee supply list for details \n– Collage with found objects and papers \n– Finishing and Cleaning edges \nThis process involves using hot wax\, heat guns and oil paint so wear closed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting messy. \n$100 per student. SUMMARY:ArtoberFest
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Carriage Factory Art Gallery for Artoberfest. This fall fundraiser will be outdoors in our beautiful Krehbiel Park. All one’s favorite Artoberfest treats will be served: brats\, beer\, pretzels\, cake\, and more. Our artful twist will be the artist throwdown. Four gallery artist members will create and compete for bragging rights for the best creation. Guests at the event can vote for their favorite work of art. Participating artists will be Kayann Ausherman\, Stephanie Bayliff\, Sean Heaton\, and Connie Rhodes. Art will be available to own through the silent auction throughout the evening. Live music duo\, Squeeze Play\, will entertain guests with a variety of modern hits and a few polkas\, too. Register online\, call\, or visit us at the gallery. Tickets are $75 per person\, age 21 and up.  Gate opens at 5:30. Registration deadline is October 18\, seating is limited.
