SUMMARY:Sashiko Embroidery with Dena Bisnette
DESCRIPTION:April 18\, 1-4 PM \nJoin Dena Bisnette and learn the art of Shashiko Embroidery. Shashiko is a Japanese technique that originated as a method of mending clothing\, but is now considered a form of embroidery. It consists of running stitches – only minimal sewing skills are necessary for this class. \nParticipants will learn to make decorative patches of denim and cotton. The patches can later be sewn to textile items like clothing\, bags\, or home decor. We will explore some traditional Japanese as well as non-traditional designs. \nAll needed supplies and tools will be provided. This class is for participants of any age able to use a needle and manipulate fabric by hand. Designs may not be the same as shown here. \nAge 10 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. \n$45 per student. DESCRIPTION:Join retired art teacher Beth Burns for a week of artistic fun! Drawing\, Painting\, Printmaking\, and more! 1-3 PM\, July 7-10 for grades 5-8. $65 includes all supplies. Register by July 1* on our website or by calling or stopping by the gallery. \nPLEASE NOTE: Most artwork created will be kept at the gallery to be displayed at the July Third Thursday downtown Newton “Art Walk” on Thursday\, July 16 and can be taken home after the event. \n*No refunds after registration deadline unless class size minimum is not met.
