Encaustic Workshop with Barb Mizik – FULL
November 16 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join artist Barb Mizik for an encaustic art exploration workshop on November 16, 10 AM – 4 PM.
Encaustic is an ancient art medium using bee’s wax combined with damar resin and oil pigment for color. Today, it is one of the most versatile mediums used by many contemporary artists. In this class you will learn to apply molten wax onto wood substrates to create 3-6 paintings. Barb will demo techniques and you will then have the opportunity to try them on your own. Techniques include carving, stenciling, texture, collage and more.
- Please bring 4-6 birch panels/cradleboards with a range of sizes. Maximum size 10×10. See below for links to purchase panels. All other supplies included.
- Bring a lunch with you or pick up something local.
$100 per student. No previous experience necessary – if you’ve never done this before, don’t be concerned about having a pre-planned idea. Just come with an open mind to play with the encaustic materials and see what happens! Register here or call the gallery, 316-284-2749, by November 2. Call us if you have any questions.
