Artist's Statement
I am a native Kansan and was raised in Wichita. I have two grown daughters and currently live in rural Inman, Kansas with my husband, Ben. I am a graduate of Wichita State University with a degree in biology. Upon retirement in 2016, after 42 years in the healthcare industry, I was able to devote time to photography. Photojournalism, landscape and wildlife photography have always caught my artistic attention. The digital age opened opportunities for me to explore photography and photographic art. My photography originates with seeing the beauty or feeling an emotion to an experience. I want to share this moment in time with others. I hope that the viewer will connect with it in his/her own way. Everyday surroundings can be the most successful at resonating an emotion. Photography is a journey that is never-ending. Every step is a learning process revealing new truths. My personal mantra is to “make the ordinary extraordinary!”
